These cute but useful gifts are great for the person in your life who has everything, since they are beautiful, personal, and totally consumable!</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">I created several sets of tags as little gifts for teachers, co-workers, and friends. Tuck tags in with a bar of scented soap, some Christmas goodies, or another small gift for a last minute Christmas surprise!</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"></span><br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">I created this set of adorable schnauzer tags for my boss, who is the owner of three adorable pups she loves! These open up to reveal space to write inside. She has two white dogs and one tan and white, so there are a few images for each pup!</span></div>

I love creating miniature worlds on my cards, and Stacey's designs offer a thousand adorable combinations for scene building. Her designs are great for Christmas and beyond! I encourage you to check out the Purple Onion website <a href="http://stores.purpleoniondesigns.com/" target="_blank">here</a>!</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"></span><br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Now, sometimes you win in photography, and sometimes you lose big time. Sometimes you don't realized you've lost until you've already mailed the card you're photographing, and that was definitely the case this time. This picture is absolutely atrocious, and I'm only sharing it here because this is my first real attempt at creating a watercolor background. I loved how the original turned out!</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"></span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh_9kuiMoZgnaHLKuk7DzE3Trsp8gN_YpiC0oMOy1gSjHee8hWmR5Bdqa14m73ROfG-sjw52qCumbF7k0FovXkdWINAxInG0aamCwIA8BS10R5qyx0mhjf16RMXgGqSDUqCu1VE7dQOv8sr/s1600/Stacey+Yacula+Watercolor.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1304" data-original-width="1600" height="325" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh_9kuiMoZgnaHLKuk7DzE3Trsp8gN_YpiC0oMOy1gSjHee8hWmR5Bdqa14m73ROfG-sjw52qCumbF7k0FovXkdWINAxInG0aamCwIA8BS10R5qyx0mhjf16RMXgGqSDUqCu1VE7dQOv8sr/s400/Stacey+Yacula+Watercolor.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">I created the background on this card by stamping the house and tree image in Staz-On ink on watercolor paper. I painted the image, sky, and snow banks with my Gansai Tambi watercolors, and then I stamped my focal image on a second piece of watercolor paper, painted it, and cut it out. I popped the focal point up just a little with some dimensional adhesive and then covered the whole scene in snow with a white gel pen. (Remember, snow falls in the foreground and background!)</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"></span><br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">I finished this project off with a dark blue card base and a heat embossed greeting on a strip of vellum. Then off to Canada in time for Christmas! </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"></span><br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">I had a blast creating this card, and I have tons of other design ideas using all of my Stacey Yacula stamps! Thanks for stopping by today, and thanks for tolerating this shaky photo!</span></div>

After all, what could be sillier for an avid card maker than sending commercially printed Christmas cards? I finally tallied up my list of recipients, and I have about half of what I need. I tend to make pretty involved projects, so I needed a clean and simple card that will be quick to reproduce for the other half of my mailing list. Pinterest to the rescue!</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">I found a basic layout I liked and then set about adapting it with supplies I have on hand. I like how this quick and easy project turned out!</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"></span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgyeFBfsBH7ltpBNuWD7VrCRvxHs6K9mbo04Vep4_RB6KIinsGX_9ogqQEdIpFbFu9lQjZgq9rWiHKI1RR7S1WbaFHI1aG9sFX5SZgdRLyRXdH-NvtmLGWS1f8R3dY89AyRrRAV4DRDwAGM/s1600/Stenciled+Santa.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1502" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgyeFBfsBH7ltpBNuWD7VrCRvxHs6K9mbo04Vep4_RB6KIinsGX_9ogqQEdIpFbFu9lQjZgq9rWiHKI1RR7S1WbaFHI1aG9sFX5SZgdRLyRXdH-NvtmLGWS1f8R3dY89AyRrRAV4DRDwAGM/s400/Stenciled+Santa.jpg" width="375" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"></span><br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">I stamped this vintage Santa image from Tim Holtz in Versamark ink and then heat embossed in detail black embossing powder. Using a Tim Holtz stencil, I created the plaid pattern over the top by sponging Barn Door and Mowed Lawn Distress Inks over part of the image. A sheet music paper envelope finished this 5 minute project off.</span></div>

<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Today I want to share another project using the adorable Feathers and Frost stamp set from Stampin' Up's 2018 holiday catalog. The little bird images in this set are just too cute, and I just received Papertrey Ink's Movers and Shakers sliders dies. I couldn't wait to try them out to see where a combo of these products might lead!</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhLkcqiPFXdRLNHUVHD1XvLaap6XqO_Izfe1DpjjQnCJCkl4B6MfHMBMmho71-ICgxyqtCUSh5Yte4ngzdAQ0wdtA7lArdc5kZQWqBNpRs2_JslqZPgVl2EHkuB5tqEzEXc_vKxg84vAAaG/s1600/Bird+Pop+up.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1273" data-original-width="1600" height="317" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhLkcqiPFXdRLNHUVHD1XvLaap6XqO_Izfe1DpjjQnCJCkl4B6MfHMBMmho71-ICgxyqtCUSh5Yte4ngzdAQ0wdtA7lArdc5kZQWqBNpRs2_JslqZPgVl2EHkuB5tqEzEXc_vKxg84vAAaG/s400/Bird+Pop+up.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">I started with a thick white A2 card base, and I layered a 4" x 5 1/4" piece of Merry Mistletoe DSP in this lovely shaded spruce color over the top. The Slider die comes with both a vertical and horizontal orientation, so I cut the horizontal pocket in Shaded Spruce cardstock and stamped some Shaded Spruce poinsettias in the background.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"></span><br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgcsBCz2xfO99hnIgpQrI6D6P-u1Gt00pyTT_P0uBphi96cED2NeXUIwdY37POJTdh3gI854RDCa7jRa28eICagidcpxWdou_FTdcJlT34yu3nJbDHj1A5ZZlu0ZLCyZddJY_8jktG8sNb0/s1600/Bird+Pop+Up+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgcsBCz2xfO99hnIgpQrI6D6P-u1Gt00pyTT_P0uBphi96cED2NeXUIwdY37POJTdh3gI854RDCa7jRa28eICagidcpxWdou_FTdcJlT34yu3nJbDHj1A5ZZlu0ZLCyZddJY_8jktG8sNb0/s400/Bird+Pop+Up+2.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Next I colored the leaf background and two birds with my copic markers on a square of white cardstock for the pop up element. I fussy cut the birds and centered a gold glitter heart between them. (They are SOOO cute!) I repeated the coloring inside and on the double slider portion that pops up at the top.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"></span><br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiuI0XIhh3hJeiLJ5Uef5JwZlLkKPg38POak8kP81UE6XW4a9QIzxbh47Yr0fP7ikyQopItClLrydFshkJsOYmeL-HE4f6K4722BeE2PWSd4FDuhTtx3HphBhoPmVv1fisUS3kIk-ZSkDWv/s1600/Bird+Pop+Up+3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiuI0XIhh3hJeiLJ5Uef5JwZlLkKPg38POak8kP81UE6XW4a9QIzxbh47Yr0fP7ikyQopItClLrydFshkJsOYmeL-HE4f6K4722BeE2PWSd4FDuhTtx3HphBhoPmVv1fisUS3kIk-ZSkDWv/s400/Bird+Pop+Up+3.jpg" width="300" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">This die takes a little practice, but overall the process of putting this card together was fairly easy after a little experimentation. Now that I understand the construction, I know I will be using this die set a lot! How cute would this pop up be with balloons, animals, flowers, hot air balloons … any image for any occasion!</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Thanks for stopping by today, and stay warm out there!</span>Jessicahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17863330141452531183noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4648472170322453253.post-16000413285739000672018-11-26T20:58:00.000-08:002018-11-26T20:58:01.815-08:00Winter Woods<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">The new bundle from Stampin' Up called Winter Woods has some absolutely lovely winter images that I couldn't wait to use on my Christmas projects. Having lived in Montana for most of my life, I find myself drawn to peaceful, snow covered scenes. They are so familiar!</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">For my first project, I wanted to create a soft, misty scene, and vellum is always perfect for the job! </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"></span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEizbyXBg17wBZd_0FDtBmBQq_8EJnChd6eEDDIxMh3m7FVVz_xhQQrnAOMxJtRQfxOmaH1E-RINKtdR4kcP2phROWc4V6yPa3Anb6I_aiLwVaZv_ZnZDs7Bt64fdieQ2E2RrCK1NTsQUM7r/s1600/Winter+Woods+4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1254" data-original-width="1600" height="312" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEizbyXBg17wBZd_0FDtBmBQq_8EJnChd6eEDDIxMh3m7FVVz_xhQQrnAOMxJtRQfxOmaH1E-RINKtdR4kcP2phROWc4V6yPa3Anb6I_aiLwVaZv_ZnZDs7Bt64fdieQ2E2RrCK1NTsQUM7r/s400/Winter+Woods+4.jpg" width="400" /></span></a></div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">This clean and simple card was super easy to create! I started by stamping the pine tree in Shaded Spruce ink all over the background, with some images full strength and some stamped off for some color variation. This background needed a little life, so I grabbed a silhouette stamp from my Papertrey Ink In the Meadow stamp set and added this little bunny with black ink. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"></span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh2EJ24onQGzT7busvg5B0sZJ8FOWbjgEUMnUNFB_hWj5Ugnhw4n73XnKC0Gyd8lSgFmTCKnUF67NbBMhFZrwtU8wDE8AmitlaZmNkjpJXD5iQEEuRkVGL-vT9J59YPbC8EFVNWnosDjGFQ/s1600/Winter+Woods+3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh2EJ24onQGzT7busvg5B0sZJ8FOWbjgEUMnUNFB_hWj5Ugnhw4n73XnKC0Gyd8lSgFmTCKnUF67NbBMhFZrwtU8wDE8AmitlaZmNkjpJXD5iQEEuRkVGL-vT9J59YPbC8EFVNWnosDjGFQ/s400/Winter+Woods+3.jpg" width="300" /></span></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"></span><br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">I cut a piece of vellum slightly larger than my front card panel to avoid any adhesive showing through. After stamping this gorgeous swirly sentiment in Versamark and heat embossing it in gold, I folded the vellum over the top and bottom of my card panel and adhered it on the back side. (I found this lovely sentiment stamp at my local thrift store for less than $1.00!) I layered a stitched hillside die from Lawn Fawn over the base panel, along with a die cut pine tree in Shaded Spruce. This whole clean and simple project took less than 20 minutes to complete!</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"></span><br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">For my second project, I wanted to create something REALLY sparkly! I found a cool YouTube video created by Jan Brown with a great idea for making super sparkly cards, so I thought I would give it a try! (Check out Jan's video <a href="https://youtu.be/c1jx6Go-PzE" target="_blank">here</a>.) </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"></span><br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjSOdE1l7az1tCWRYylm6fx2QeQCLi3sXZFAJ4EJIghd1kdUnefl8xWSyObJ7hQHZ3eZNFHIB2-xma-Wjr40mNZmb4YB9wMiVGJPVJMd3dXs0Aj68cnTIICmPpJemJ31cNUl7YvdKf89ZAP/s1600/Winter+Woods+1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1263" data-original-width="1600" height="315" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjSOdE1l7az1tCWRYylm6fx2QeQCLi3sXZFAJ4EJIghd1kdUnefl8xWSyObJ7hQHZ3eZNFHIB2-xma-Wjr40mNZmb4YB9wMiVGJPVJMd3dXs0Aj68cnTIICmPpJemJ31cNUl7YvdKf89ZAP/s400/Winter+Woods+1.jpg" width="400" /></span></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"></span><br /></div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">I started this project exactly like the first, substituting the bare branch trees from Winter Woods stamped in Smoky Slate ink. I stamped a few pine trees over the top in Shaded Spruce, and I added a deer silhouette in black, again from Papertrey Ink's In the Meadow stamp set. I tore a strip of white card stock to serve as a snowy hillside and layered it over my background.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Then the magic happened! I cut a sheet of double sided adhesive paper about 1/4" larger on all sides than my card panel to make the whole front sticky. (Jan has great step by step instructions in her video!) I sprinkled Dazzling Diamonds all over the front of the card, and WOW does it shine! My pictures can't quite do it justice.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"></span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhnX5UHrQWiQhyphenhyphenTpgLYfYhRLNSuQT7brZKQUuzg5IUTxW5NXdOryz5Nfq3oycs914sIEln4j3Wa4AbuSBENLlg6v5I70lgQdBQSlm4cFU3hhY6FE3hpYCpphuHvBlTQ_T2alYC6TgG71a2S/s1600/Winter+Woods+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhnX5UHrQWiQhyphenhyphenTpgLYfYhRLNSuQT7brZKQUuzg5IUTxW5NXdOryz5Nfq3oycs914sIEln4j3Wa4AbuSBENLlg6v5I70lgQdBQSlm4cFU3hhY6FE3hpYCpphuHvBlTQ_T2alYC6TgG71a2S/s400/Winter+Woods+2.jpg" width="400" /></span></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"></span><br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">This card does shed a little bit of glitter, but I found that layering the adhesive release paper back over the panel and running my brayer over the top made most of the glitter hold tight! I added some soft organza ribbon and a round sentiment to the lower left corner to finish this project off.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"></span><br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">I hope that you are surrounded by warmth wherever you find yourself! Thanks for visiting today!</span></div>

<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Today I'd like to share a fun project I will be teaching at my craft group's annual holiday gathering. We hold this event each year in December, and it is a chance for all of us to slow down and connect over some fun projects and more than a few snacks! I have been meeting with this wonderful group of ladies for about 8 years, and they have become like sisters to me. A few members have come and gone in that time but the relationships remain, and we have all made some amazing friendships over the years.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Feathers and Frost is one of my favorite sets in the new holiday catalog, and this year I wanted to create a gift item that could be given away as a bit of Christmas cheer. This bright and homey square luminary is easy to make, uses limited supplies, and looks lovely all lit up!</span><br />

<div style="text-align: center;">
<u><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Instructions:</span></u></div>
<u></u><div>
<u></u><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"></span><br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">1) Cut one sheet of Real Red card stock into two pieces measuring 4 1/4" x 9". Score both pieces at 4 1/4" and 8 1/2" along the 9" side. Trim the corners of each 1/2" section as indicated by the black areas below. (Feel free to click the diagrams to enlarge: My blog loves to cut larger images off at the edges.)</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"></span><br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhM7tZa-BBRzt-WOjo0PssFg4njE89Qz9JvyN5HLRvICRQRpVcbwGYEfRkekHXKXzApjJxkmaJ33QtTnh_u50aOkbxTz6ghtYEKl1suBd4Vavg0VT1heaE2vZTCAfbzc1OAWKZ89l2QVZbO/s1600/Luminary+directions.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><img border="0" data-original-height="571" data-original-width="1207" height="187" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhM7tZa-BBRzt-WOjo0PssFg4njE89Qz9JvyN5HLRvICRQRpVcbwGYEfRkekHXKXzApjJxkmaJ33QtTnh_u50aOkbxTz6ghtYEKl1suBd4Vavg0VT1heaE2vZTCAfbzc1OAWKZ89l2QVZbO/s400/Luminary+directions.jpg" width="400" /></span></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"></span><br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">2) Cut four 4" x 4" squares of designer series paper.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"></span><br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">3) Cut four 3 1/2" squares of vellum.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"></span><br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">4) Prep all four pieces of vellum with your embossing buddy, stamp the square bird and feathers image from the Feathers and Frost set (or another image of your choice) in Versamark ink, and heat emboss with gold embossing powder.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"></span><br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">5) Run a small strip of adhesive in <u>only</u> a small center section of each 4" square of DSP and affix the DSP squares inside each Real Red panel. This will keep the two layers in place while you die cut a square window from the center of each.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"></span><br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">6) Choose a square die slightly larger than the image stamped on the vellum pieces and die cut a window from each square section of the luminary. Cutting through both the card stock and DSP allows you to easily cut the same window on each panel. (Tip: Number each panel and the DSP that fits it lightly in pencil as you go. No matter how much we try to center our cuts, no one is perfect!) Set the DSP pieces aside.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"></span><br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEigIZtojMKQF_0jVitCiwQEp8YUQrHm7RN5jMV4y0Ih5bdVjAw8NxffViCkHYY2WtQCFm-MlmHJdkl7hproN59VvJ0nXBO881xQyrh3yNt5IOVVI54pZsszzac4dIlysdAO4cflYoNF5Apq/s1600/Luminary+directions+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><img border="0" data-original-height="571" data-original-width="1207" height="188" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEigIZtojMKQF_0jVitCiwQEp8YUQrHm7RN5jMV4y0Ih5bdVjAw8NxffViCkHYY2WtQCFm-MlmHJdkl7hproN59VvJ0nXBO881xQyrh3yNt5IOVVI54pZsszzac4dIlysdAO4cflYoNF5Apq/s400/Luminary+directions+2.jpg" width="400" /></span></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">7) Center the gold embossed image in the center of each window and adhere to the <u>outward-facing side</u> of each Real Red panel. (It will not matter if the vellum is straight as the edges will be hidden!)</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"></span><br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">8) Adhere the DSP squares <u>over</u> the vellum on the outward-facing side of each Real Red panel, making sure the inside edges are flush with the windows cut in the base and that the border around each piece of DSP is even.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"></span><br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Note: If you are using a different stamp in your window which requires cutting your square opening a different size, you may need to trim down your 1/2" tabs to be sure they don't show when the box is assembled in the next step.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"></span><br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg1wt9iKPw5WJx86jm-B85pyldWbLNAUedqwkP0iAp5G2OKAhP8ob7pMJsXORRIfO8N1DT7neVHNbvMTBic8hMfDnfVEJ9Yb4m3nbPvkYaubxslbsBtqo07xSQNiQQM9ZYlzwdGfqONxYPg/s1600/Luminary+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg1wt9iKPw5WJx86jm-B85pyldWbLNAUedqwkP0iAp5G2OKAhP8ob7pMJsXORRIfO8N1DT7neVHNbvMTBic8hMfDnfVEJ9Yb4m3nbPvkYaubxslbsBtqo07xSQNiQQM9ZYlzwdGfqONxYPg/s400/Luminary+2.jpg" width="300" /></span></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"></span><br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">9) Assemble! Fold along score lines. Orient both base pieces so that the 1/2" score faces the same direction. Apply strong adhesive to the <u>outward-facing portion</u> of tab C and adhere it to the back side of panel D. Apply strong adhesive to the outward-facing portion of tab F, and wrap it around to adhere it to the back side of panel A. This will form a box with an opening in the center for your tea light.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"></span><br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjTqlSY0Ha9J4_Iy8XTQw6RzwlyFnIlLwfqxE5n7gYDS8RAaqzwna4CYXKuF_OVKg4PzFXWwMImkzKrpayq2XwbK-Pj7aG1gYVZP-Vaco0cydmEFRmz3MTGLEdtiHocd954PqFKWF2rEJgI/s1600/Luminary+directions+3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1102" data-original-width="1218" height="361" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjTqlSY0Ha9J4_Iy8XTQw6RzwlyFnIlLwfqxE5n7gYDS8RAaqzwna4CYXKuF_OVKg4PzFXWwMImkzKrpayq2XwbK-Pj7aG1gYVZP-Vaco0cydmEFRmz3MTGLEdtiHocd954PqFKWF2rEJgI/s400/Luminary+directions+3.jpg" width="400" /></span></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">10) Decorate! This is the fun part! I used a strip of gold glitter paper cut in a banner shape at the base of each window and layered the Joy sentiment stamped in red and cut with the smallest stitched oval die over the top. For the upper left corner of each window, I fussy cut the poinsettia and leaf stamp colored with Stampin' Blends, and I layered them over some punched evergreen boughs.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"></span><br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhejtdHP7xzvcx-91rrXLl3CZgI8_OegpL93liYulVhPtr72BMz3ooj8yIKf9oDy3hzseuoGVDOysaSYnlfeWy0vxpLW6KXrhd166bjqFTqaIKnK4sDG1_KK-793Ao6_PCA85L8HVC85Jdh/s1600/Luminary+3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1465" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhejtdHP7xzvcx-91rrXLl3CZgI8_OegpL93liYulVhPtr72BMz3ooj8yIKf9oDy3hzseuoGVDOysaSYnlfeWy0vxpLW6KXrhd166bjqFTqaIKnK4sDG1_KK-793Ao6_PCA85L8HVC85Jdh/s400/Luminary+3.jpg" width="366" /></span></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"></span><br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Now that I have made one of these, I have plans to make them in all kinds of color combinations! What combo will you try? </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"></span><br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Thanks for stopping by today, my friends! Happy crafting!</span></div>

I have had these cute critter cards in my stash waiting to be photographed forever, and now that it's finally the Christmas season it's time to dust them off!</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">The first card uses an adorable stamp set from Mama Elephant called A Beary Christmas. These little bears are SO adorable, and I had so much fun creating this cute scene!</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"></span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"></span><br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">The scene background was created with distress ink painted onto watercolor paper with an aqua painter. I splattered and dabbed off some drops of water for interest, and then got to work building my scene with the Lawn Fawn stitched hillside dies, some cute little trees from Purple Onion Designs, and my cute little bear family. I used shades of various soft brown Copics for these cuties and then hand cut them out to avoid the white border dies can leave.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"></span><br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">My second project was created using the same adorable bears and some more trees from Purple Onion Designs. (Stacey Yacula has some AMAZING scene building stamps if you like to create scenes like I do!) </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">After my background was dry, I heat embossed my sentiment and some snowflakes, and I swiped some embossing paste over the lower section of the card and sprinkled it with glitter and faux snow. Of course my little bears create all the magic here!</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">If you love critters as much as I do, Winter Woodland Wonders by Avery Elle might be right up your alley too! This set features cute animals, along with birch trees and an adorable snowman. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"></span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjlmKYk7S6Fe9q7-NrKwCZkmyfCVpQJ8SXqgXxd_b-2dZP_h-HLLz-6SN__-LqcoK3jTbVBkioqNydIXeLasDG0hWKiSgEmfrwsA1Htjfv3mspxXq1QP9Zvp7PoG3ewZApmh4IM-nmcewAS/s1600/North+Star.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1259" data-original-width="1600" height="313" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjlmKYk7S6Fe9q7-NrKwCZkmyfCVpQJ8SXqgXxd_b-2dZP_h-HLLz-6SN__-LqcoK3jTbVBkioqNydIXeLasDG0hWKiSgEmfrwsA1Htjfv3mspxXq1QP9Zvp7PoG3ewZApmh4IM-nmcewAS/s400/North+Star.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">I had so much fun creating this card background with painted on distress inks! Before the ink was dry, I sprinkled salt all over the surface and let it dry completely. This technique gives watercolor such a neat texture! Then I die cut some stars out and ran the background through my Big Shot with a snowy embossing folder. I layered the background over silver glitter paper and then layered my stitched hillside over the top, along with my polar bear and trees. I love how this sweet card turned out!</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">My last critter card today is a case from a beautiful card designed by Melania Deasy. Sometimes I just want to pull out my supplies and get to work, and the day I created this card was one of those days! </span><br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">I made my version with a distress ink painted background and some brighter pastel colors because that is just who I am! :) The little rabbit in this stamp set is just about the cutest thing EVER!</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"></span><br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">I am so excited to share tons of Christmas projects using old and new products over the coming weeks. Stay warm out there!</span></div>

I am back today to share a couple of final fall projects before the Christmas crafting officially begins. My favorite! </span><br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"></span><br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">I recently impulse purchased the new Fa La Llama layering set from Hero Arts, so that set will be among the first I use for Christmas projects. It is so hilarious - I can't wait to try it out! Of course, I have a couple of the gorgeous new sets from Stampin' Up too!</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"></span><br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">BUT, first I wanted to share a couple of autumn cards I've had hanging around my desk waiting to be photographed for a while! When I saw that Echo Park had a new set of stamps last year to accompany their fall scrapbooking collection with THIS FOX:</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"></span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjllLD3auewKci7nbR9qrr1aV-PAdGLsGI-b9iokQwfLmdvWSBPykcaYySEhileVVU3qNnCRYV2wbauFtd2baI4U28sPdNb3Kz7r0VOKkZQ5-TEFXTPy9qPPbP5xIfthdL1GryTjqX4DUdy/s1600/IMG_2852.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1265" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjllLD3auewKci7nbR9qrr1aV-PAdGLsGI-b9iokQwfLmdvWSBPykcaYySEhileVVU3qNnCRYV2wbauFtd2baI4U28sPdNb3Kz7r0VOKkZQ5-TEFXTPy9qPPbP5xIfthdL1GryTjqX4DUdy/s400/IMG_2852.JPG" width="316" /></a></div>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"></span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">How could I resist? He went on my birthday list right away. This sweet little fella will be a staple in my collection from now on!</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">This stamp set came with so many cute critters, and I couldn't wait to color them all. For the second project, I tinted some embossing paste with burnt orange reinker and spread it through a Prima background stencil. How cute is this little bear? I layered the owl on a Papertrey Ink bookmark die as a cute fall gift for one of my piano students who always has a book with her when she comes to lessons. </span></div>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"></span><br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">While I had my Copics and tinted embossing paste out, I decided to color this cute digital fall fairy stamp from my stash and create another stenciled textured background. I wish I could remember the source of this adorable free digital stamp, but I have had it so long the site escapes me. I am very grateful to the artist!</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">I made the shaker element for this card by creating a pocket with my Fuse Tool and filling it with colorful confetti. A little bit of gold thread and a strip of card stock with a white heat embossed sentiment finished this fun thank you card off!</span><br />

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Thanks for stopping by today! Next on the agenda - Christmas crafts. While I love using all of the new products that are always coming out in the paper crafting world, I also love the stuff I already have. (That's why I bought it after all!) </span><br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"></span><br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">These fall leaves from years ago were perfect for the technique I had in mind for this card. I wanted to create some beautiful fall colors with lots of variety and an interesting background.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"></span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">I created the card base to fit a long envelope - about 9 1/2" by 4 1/4" or so - and stamped a background with a large woodgrain stamp. Then I got to work on the main panel, sponging heavy coats of several shades of yellow, orange, red, and violet all over white card stock. Then I clear embossed my leaf and swirl pattern over the top. I inked the heck out of the whole panel in dark brown to achieve the final result. Here is a photo of the work in progress:</span><br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">I finished VERY inky but very happy with the final result: a not-too-feminine birthday card for my darling hubby. I will definitely be recreating this design again! It was so much fun!</span></div>

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"></span><br />Jessicahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17863330141452531183noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4648472170322453253.post-63521636605914060662018-11-19T20:42:00.000-08:002018-11-19T20:42:13.045-08:00Another Fall Birthday<div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Pretty much ALL of my family members have birthdays in the fall, so I spend a lot of time each autumn creating special birthday cards for each of them. I have a wonderful family, and all of them live nearby, so we usually gather for one mega-giant birthday party around Halloween. This year my duties with the music teachers non-profit I have been working with kept us from having our party on schedule, but I still wanted to create some special cards.</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"></span><br /></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">This Painted Harvest stamp from Stampin' Up creates the MOST beautiful sunflowers, leaves, and acorns quickly and easily, so I paired some DSP I had left over from last fall with another extra long card base (9 1/2" x 4 1/4").<br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"></span><br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgsW-r0Uhqaw-MJL0q5UZouCGndNiHk3NyqjHwdd7MQyQ2Py1-pkCfv00bf199gXLEMf2FSMTXY0YtTrG_W41eV9s3cKvEw2BvWJ-P5p4qi_jn1Y6P8qUqStwQQE1khQrZtRK6wkwJFEXpK/s1600/Sunflower+Birthday.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="873" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgsW-r0Uhqaw-MJL0q5UZouCGndNiHk3NyqjHwdd7MQyQ2Py1-pkCfv00bf199gXLEMf2FSMTXY0YtTrG_W41eV9s3cKvEw2BvWJ-P5p4qi_jn1Y6P8qUqStwQQE1khQrZtRK6wkwJFEXpK/s640/Sunflower+Birthday.jpg" width="348" /></a></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"></span><br /></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"></span><br /></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">I added a crinkled seam binding bow, a little touch of gold glitter paper, and some gold thread, nestled around this lovely birthday sentiment from Butterfly Basics. This card fit (rather snugly) in a long coin envelope.</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"></span><br /></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Sometimes I get one card design stuck in my head for a while, and I have to play with it over and over! I'll be back to share one more long and tall birthday card soon using a technique I had long forgotten about!</span></div>

<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">I love card making. LOVE IT. Creating something beautiful in a small package for someone special is so relaxing, and I need this little bit of introvert time to process all the events of the week. Fall is my favorite season, so I've had a lot of fun recently making some fall themed birthday cards for my family. </span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"></span><br /></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">I decided to do a couple of long (or tall) birthday cards over the last few weeks that fit in long coin envelopes. This card is about 9 1/2 inches long and 4 1/4 inches tall. </span><br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>

<div>

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div>
<br /><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">I stamped the background with a large woodgrain stamp. The main panel is stamped on cream card stock with a retired Stampin' Up set called French Foliage - maybe my favorite leaf set EVER! I used a sponge dauber to vary the colors of the leaves and add some interest. I tucked some leaf die cuts behind my sentiment with some gold thread, which I patted with Versamark and embossed in gold.</span></div>

<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">This birthday card is for an extra special person, so I put an extra special sentiment inside! I die cut the amazing out of the background cream card stock and inset a rust colored card stock to match the colors on the front.</span></div>

<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Today I would like to share a project that I taught for our last Stamp Club meeting in September. This design was inspired by a video by <a href="https://www.youtube.com/user/jennifermcguireink" target="_blank">Jennifer McGuire</a> on YouTube, which contains all of the instructions and dimensions for this project. I recommend that you check it out her video <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uZuC0SOuzRE" target="_blank">here</a>, which contains clear directions for this project and some adorable inspiration projects. Jennifer is one of my favorite crafty Youtubers, and her projects are always incredible!</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">I decided to use the new Stampin' Up set called <a href="https://www.stampinup.com/ecweb/productdetails.aspx?productid=146813" target="_blank">Seize the Day</a> for this project since it features a fun outdoor scene that is great for creating a shadow box effect. I stamped a simple design on the front of the card using my <a href="https://www.stampinup.com/ecweb/productdetails.aspx?productid=145372" target="_blank">stitched shapes dies</a>, but the inside of this card is where the magic really happens!</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"></span><br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">The fun 3-D effect this card creates is perfect for any kind of scene. Change it up by altering the shape of the opening: This card is adorable with a square or even label-shaped aperture.</span></div>

<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">The sentiment from this card comes from the gorgeous "Distinktive" stamp set from Stampin' Up called <a href="https://www.stampinup.com/ecweb/productdetails.aspx?productid=146530" target="_blank">Healing Hugs</a>. While I had all of my supplies out, I created a second design using this set and this fun card fold.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjSPBqhprEzzE2_TgReb2_YwK6CuoBdKhGMI_XtHvS6ro1_rZ1oaCjhxFMaincES5FvpLMOnl0ALF594CtXGoxMhS3yX2bAuYHvyK-uSRDzAjC6rS_XbM7JrAUP1d2jNylqSFdaPC0l865f/s1600/IMG_3489.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjSPBqhprEzzE2_TgReb2_YwK6CuoBdKhGMI_XtHvS6ro1_rZ1oaCjhxFMaincES5FvpLMOnl0ALF594CtXGoxMhS3yX2bAuYHvyK-uSRDzAjC6rS_XbM7JrAUP1d2jNylqSFdaPC0l865f/s400/IMG_3489.JPG" width="300" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">These "distinktive" sets create a really beautiful effect when sponged with additional colors with sponges or daubers, and I have a lot more ideas for fun scenes I can create with this fun card fold! With the winter holidays approaching, how fun would a snow scene look with this design?</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Hope you're having a wonderful fall season wherever you are!</span>Jessicahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17863330141452531183noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4648472170322453253.post-22267293768751477442018-08-12T22:31:00.000-07:002018-08-12T22:31:13.996-07:00Up, Up, and Away Graduation Surprise<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Hi, friends! Today I want to share a card I made for a wonderful former piano student of mine who graduated this year. Because this young woman is extra special, she needed an extra special card! I have been wanting to do a tunnel card for a long time, so I set out to find a tutorial on YouTube. Why reinvent the wheel after all? I found a great tutorial from <a href="https://youtu.be/RqxvsvoHVdI" target="_blank">Heidi Smith</a> which details the construction of this card. Heidi presents the dimensions in centimeters, so read on for the conversion to inches!</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">I used my Up, Up and Away stamp set from Papertrey Ink, along with some scraps of Stampin' Up paper I had left over from Sale-a-Bration in 2017. These cute hot air balloons fit the theme of this card so well! (Stampin' Up also has a great hot air balloon set called <a href="https://www.stampinup.com/ecweb/productdetails.aspx?productid=142896" target="_blank">Lift Me Up</a>, which could be used to create a similar effect.)</span><br />
<u><span style="color: #000120;"></span></u><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"></span><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj_dBnVTZMGBOgyOqhQjXgdhr4zQI1vlNvzwteXWi6xoQa6j2MYoIqkyPtQaLaZWj4ePbS79-jwLh5NNtV0BDbYJ2Z-bfwRgo82FbyU1cFDihnJ7XlyQj6RNV2PydXlKBxqM4vtQVmCSk_I/s1600/Balloon+Tunnel+Card+Exterior.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1235" data-original-width="1600" height="307" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj_dBnVTZMGBOgyOqhQjXgdhr4zQI1vlNvzwteXWi6xoQa6j2MYoIqkyPtQaLaZWj4ePbS79-jwLh5NNtV0BDbYJ2Z-bfwRgo82FbyU1cFDihnJ7XlyQj6RNV2PydXlKBxqM4vtQVmCSk_I/s400/Balloon+Tunnel+Card+Exterior.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">I used a standard A2 card base cut from Night of Navy cardstock (4 1/4" x 11" scored at 5 1/2" on the 11" side). The interior "tunnel" is created by scoring a second piece of Night of Navy cardstock cut to 4 1/4" x 11" and scored every 2 3/4". I die cut an oval "tunnel" by centering my die on the center score line, and then folded the paper in a mountain configuration ( _/\_ ) and adhered the far left and far right panels to the outer card base. Be sure to decorate the interior of your tunnel before assembly; I used a 5 1/2" piece of patterned paper scored at 2 3/4". The side panels were cut to 2 1/2" x 4" (coral layer) and 2 1/4" x 3 3/4" (clouds).</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgUNjWREaCmZRWWQTOYKPi75iWSZPwiuFBcbqZJUPYEYLMMxYYlrB50xJMyt5DXczY8EOUItw2qBKgn59NTROWFIioRwG1VYx9Gbkjk6MVrwfbZjDUUEwPC5Ljik1fh391GZFlVYe-oOz6Z/s1600/Balloon+Tunnel+Card+Interior.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="784" data-original-width="1600" height="195" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgUNjWREaCmZRWWQTOYKPi75iWSZPwiuFBcbqZJUPYEYLMMxYYlrB50xJMyt5DXczY8EOUItw2qBKgn59NTROWFIioRwG1VYx9Gbkjk6MVrwfbZjDUUEwPC5Ljik1fh391GZFlVYe-oOz6Z/s400/Balloon+Tunnel+Card+Interior.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">By adhering balloons both inside and outside this card interior, I created a dimensional effect. Some vellum clouds are fun additions too! </span></div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"></span><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">I hope you'll check out Heidi's tutorial and try this fun card fold for yourself. A variety of scenes would be amazing: gardens, houses, critters, ocean scenes … the possibilities are endless!</span></div>

Even though many blogs exist to promote current products, I find it just as enjoyable to pull out stamps I've loved a lot for a long time to try to create fresh ideas. After all, I chose these sets because I loved them, and I still do! </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">One of these sets is the Hey, Chick set that Stampin' Up offered during their Sale-a-Bration promotion in 2017. I combined this set with some sentiments and images from my On the Farm set from Papertrey Ink to create this adorable project.</span><br /><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiP4caFJ20FUntaTVK73MKRMAXd6O0NxOOh9KQQDY57k6dUjAEuV609fnwuoKA5mCfUphWUcGb4vszk0w_aNotSNCcGoJTmF5MNqoGkDecN0nfjlONLUhSZMoOxgysWTiNwJAdGEQg_ocT2/s1600/IMG_2716.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1286" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiP4caFJ20FUntaTVK73MKRMAXd6O0NxOOh9KQQDY57k6dUjAEuV609fnwuoKA5mCfUphWUcGb4vszk0w_aNotSNCcGoJTmF5MNqoGkDecN0nfjlONLUhSZMoOxgysWTiNwJAdGEQg_ocT2/s400/IMG_2716.JPG" width="321" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">I stamped the bottom of my background with the checkerboard stamp from On the Farm, and then pulled out a chicken wire embossing folder and embossed the top part of my card panel. I cut long strips of patterned paper from my scrap box, layered them at a diagonal, and trimmed them off at the edges. I found a stamp set in my stash that looks like a stitched line and layered that on one of the strips to pull some more red into the design. I colored this cute chickee with Intense Pencils from Derwent. </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"></span><br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgdimWdU5s0RyYytLsDfakPr8ltYvZ9bBxCGup-SJdGO13sTXL5tg8xe1kmej-_CUAsXC1wVU9ufHXQdxHjusqAFP25fwY2z03HkJZGB2-3G4mvwto0CjRBXgDwh-w2cnW8WICMQoorfDBd/s1600/FullSizeRender_2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1446" data-original-width="1600" height="361" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgdimWdU5s0RyYytLsDfakPr8ltYvZ9bBxCGup-SJdGO13sTXL5tg8xe1kmej-_CUAsXC1wVU9ufHXQdxHjusqAFP25fwY2z03HkJZGB2-3G4mvwto0CjRBXgDwh-w2cnW8WICMQoorfDBd/s400/FullSizeRender_2.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Of course this card needed a matching envelope, so I used some silhouette images from On the Farm to jazz up a plain vanilla one. I am thrilled with how this design turned out!</span>Jessicahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17863330141452531183noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4648472170322453253.post-91361850023756618772018-08-08T20:53:00.000-07:002018-08-08T20:53:08.870-07:00Kitties!!!<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">I am totally a cat person, so when I saw the set called <a href="https://www.simonsaysstamp.com/product/My-Favorite-Things-I-KNEAD-YOU-Clear-Stamps-BB14-BB14CSMFT?currency=USD" target="_blank">I Knead You</a> from My Favorite Things at <a href="https://www.simonsaysstamp.com/" target="_blank">Simon Says Stamp</a>, it went on my birthday list right away! I actually made this project last fall, but I realized as I was going through photos on my computer that there are a lot of things I haven't shared here on my blog. Time has been short this year, but some of these are my very favorite projects of all time! I may stick a few of these projects in over the coming months when creating time is short.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">I decided to make a set of cards using this set with some new stencils I got from Stampin' Up, along with their new (at the time) embossing paste. One of the stencils has a brick wall, and so I created some scene cards that remind me of coming home after a long day to see my own kitty sitting in the window waiting for me! Tinting the embossing paste with a few drops of red reinker created just the effect I was hoping for. </span><br />

<br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">As everyone who follows me knows, I ADORE scene cards and all things minature, so I had to insert some acetate "glass" behind my window die cuts to give these projects a little extra pizzazz. I am absolutely DYING remembering how much fun these were to create, and I think I may have to break these out again and create some more adorable kitties!</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Thanks for stopping by, and I hope these warm summer days have offered some opportunities for sunbathing for you as well! </span>Jessicahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17863330141452531183noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4648472170322453253.post-78812718246656438432018-07-29T11:02:00.002-07:002018-07-29T11:02:58.093-07:00Very Vintage Birthday<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Some of my favorite new products in the 2018-2019 annual catalog bring back my most loved paper crafting style of all time: Vintage! I was so happy when I opened the catalog and saw that distressed wood, florals, and tea room prints were back with an updated style!</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">One of my favorite new sets in the catalog is the hostess set called Very Vintage. This set features a gorgeous rose motif and several coordinating images that are just lovely. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">For today's project I used the <a href="https://www.stampinup.com/ecweb/productdetails.aspx?productid=146801" target="_blank">Very Vintage</a> hostess set combined with one of my favorite paper packs EVER, the <a href="https://www.stampinup.com/ecweb/product/144177/wood-textures-designer-series-paper-stack" target="_blank">Wood Textures Designer Series Paper</a> pack.<br /></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"></span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgFkUZ2nhi5NmtIJzZh40BgSP4Oy3dLNJQsqOvc-Za5-ceYHjrghXdV2fmKdU4QGeEUexLg8K007qiKO33HgE4ANSevLcNuQ_pGwyUJGxClz5WUSy8eFsJFI1L1FLKHo_u0FFGYwF65lkOu/s1600/Very+Vintage.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1583" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgFkUZ2nhi5NmtIJzZh40BgSP4Oy3dLNJQsqOvc-Za5-ceYHjrghXdV2fmKdU4QGeEUexLg8K007qiKO33HgE4ANSevLcNuQ_pGwyUJGxClz5WUSy8eFsJFI1L1FLKHo_u0FFGYwF65lkOu/s400/Very+Vintage.jpg" width="395" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">I created the background for this card by sponging the doily stamp from Very Vintage with <a href="https://www.stampinup.com/ecweb/productdetails.aspx?productid=147051" target="_blank">Melon Mambo</a> and Peekaboo Peach ink and stamping on white woodgrain paper from the Wood Textures DSP pack. For the oval sentiment, I stamped the rose image twice in Melon Mambo without reinking to create a shadow effect. I pulled out my now-retired Butterfly Basics set to add some <a href="https://www.stampinup.com/ecweb/productdetails.aspx?productid=147106" target="_blank">Mint Macaron</a> accent leaves, the birthday sentiment, and the black line image to help balance the design. I layered the sentiment oval over a die cut <a href="https://www.stampinup.com/ecweb/productdetails.aspx?productid=138337" target="_blank">Mint Macaron</a> label, and added a scrap of cotton trim and <a href="https://www.stampinup.com/ecweb/productdetails.aspx?productid=144128" target="_blank">gold sequin trim</a> for texture.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">My favorite part of this card is the gold embossed vellum bees I added for texture. They catch the light so well and really complete the vintage look of this design. Remember to use your <a href="https://www.stampinup.com/ecweb/productdetails.aspx?productid=103083" target="_blank">embossing buddy</a> to reduce static when embossing on vellum.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">I hope this card give you some inspiration, and I hope that summer is bringing joy and warmth to your life!</span></div>

I found this fun inspiration from Debbie Henderson on YouTube, and I just had to give it a try!</span><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: large;"> </span></span><br />

<br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">This card opens to reveal both a sentiment and a perforated bookmark that the recipient can tear off and use.<br /></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"></span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">I have had a <a href="https://www.papertreyink.com/moments-inked/papertrey-ink-moments-inked-edged-die/" target="_blank">perforated strip die</a> from Papertrey Ink in my stash for a good long while but just couldn't seem to riddle out a way to use it on this card! The die is more than 6" long, and this card requires a full 11" width of cardstock, so I couldn't seem to figure out how to run it through my narrow Big Shot. Of course, I finally figured out that I could create all my score lines and fold the card over on itself to run it through my machine facing the right direction without it being too wide. The die did leave some indentations on the card front, but after applying all the layers, this really wasn't visible at all.<br /></span><br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgSKJ3SRFO-D2QL9tqYK_w6PUWF0wVogKa5XjY1zAhXENKsGsvzGMr4D1_tAmx_zW_tk3GXt0iLud7WyylfL_Cgwa09-qLALoK2I6XxDVbEGm6uShDRBvvMLCMPf57oqLnkYD7ax5wgOT4i/s1600/IMG_3233.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1196" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgSKJ3SRFO-D2QL9tqYK_w6PUWF0wVogKa5XjY1zAhXENKsGsvzGMr4D1_tAmx_zW_tk3GXt0iLud7WyylfL_Cgwa09-qLALoK2I6XxDVbEGm6uShDRBvvMLCMPf57oqLnkYD7ax5wgOT4i/s400/IMG_3233.JPG" width="298" /></a></div>
<br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">I created these lovely watercolor-style trees with Stampin Up's <a href="https://www.stampinup.com/ecweb/productdetails.aspx?productid=137163" target="_blank">Sheltering Tree</a> stamp set, and the sun and clouds from the now retired Sunshine and Rainbows stamp set from the 2018 Occasions Catalog. The sentiment on the belly band comes from the Tin of Tags Christmas set, but any medium to large sentiment would work!</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">I layered three shades of green: <a href="https://www.stampinup.com/ecweb/productdetails.aspx?productid=147089" target="_blank">Garden Green</a>, <a href="https://www.stampinup.com/ecweb/productdetails.aspx?productid=147090" target="_blank">Old Olive</a>, and <a href="https://www.stampinup.com/ecweb/productdetails.aspx?productid=147145" target="_blank">Lemon Lime Twist</a>, on a <a href="https://www.stampinup.com/ecweb/productdetails.aspx?productid=102584" target="_blank">Garden Green</a> Card base with a tiny border of <a href="https://www.stampinup.com/ecweb/productdetails.aspx?productid=144245" target="_blank">Lemon Lime Twist</a> to create a summery feel. </span><br />

I am the proud auntie of several really adorable nephews and nieces, and I love making fun cards for their birthdays since they live far away. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;"></span><br />
<span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">The first card was inspired by Sandi MacIver on Pinterest. This design was so sweet I decided to add matching tags and create several variations using these adorable birthday animals! The cards feature fun honeycomb balloons that the recipients can open after the cards are mailed.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;"></span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhAVpdMqh64v8eeuxEiibMCQt-svS240RZcvBf73UAAzON6B_E4dWmIacju7AwY4tZtV-xtANDZlrLIrj-jb0HjwLsPwFQqf8tyix3FX3twSjXSBSwXLjmzknr1Lq0IeMnZ1FiPVGkGWpC8/s1600/Special+Delivery+1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1300" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhAVpdMqh64v8eeuxEiibMCQt-svS240RZcvBf73UAAzON6B_E4dWmIacju7AwY4tZtV-xtANDZlrLIrj-jb0HjwLsPwFQqf8tyix3FX3twSjXSBSwXLjmzknr1Lq0IeMnZ1FiPVGkGWpC8/s400/Special+Delivery+1.jpg" width="325" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjXK4yDlfFHYYLFb7kEDIm4AzzIMnngHborO7hvYbUJHYSfFpb3ldPqIEWLteFkqocdFNGsbPdKa6-nMWzVyJrG4YDw4TSHipxJ1caBG4SxK4oIyQNc3RNUSKHV9kvVtrNrcfaxpVuLoyf8/s1600/Special+Delivery+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1213" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjXK4yDlfFHYYLFb7kEDIm4AzzIMnngHborO7hvYbUJHYSfFpb3ldPqIEWLteFkqocdFNGsbPdKa6-nMWzVyJrG4YDw4TSHipxJ1caBG4SxK4oIyQNc3RNUSKHV9kvVtrNrcfaxpVuLoyf8/s400/Special+Delivery+2.jpg" width="302" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">The second design is among my most ambitious scene cards in a long time. Even though the cover of this card doesn't contain a lot of elements, the sponging, stamping, and fussy cutting took me a good long time. The interior pop and twist mechanism was much less time consuming, but creates a truly magical surprise when the card is opened!</span></div>

<span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">I absolutely adore making fun cards for kids, so these projects made me smile for a long time! I hope you are having a magical day!</span></div>

When I feel low on inspiration, Pinterest can usually offer up some fun designs and ideas for sets I already own, and whether I use just the colors in the design ideas I find, or just the layout - or both - I'm always grateful for the inspiration!</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "courier new" , "courier" , monospace;"></span><br />
<span style="font-family: "courier new" , "courier" , monospace;">This design was originally posted by Rochelle Blok. I loved the color combo and imagery so much I created a second version using these cute noise makers! Nothing makes me happier than bright blues, greens, and pinks!</span><br />

<span style="font-family: "courier new" , "courier" , monospace;">After hearing mixed reviews on the user-friendliness of this roller coaster die, I was pretty nervous to try it out. After making this card, I will freely admit that this one IS hard to use. In fact I'm pretty convinced that this is due to a design flaw in the die itself. When I moved the score line created by the die up a 1/4 of an inch, all my problems disappeared, and I was finally able to get this cute pop-up to work. This die is not for the faint of heart, but the effect really is adorable! I used the color inspiration I found in Rochelle's design on this project as well.</span></div>

<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "courier new" , "courier" , monospace;">For the third card, I used the same color inspiration featuring foil paper and a fun birthday balloon. I ended up making six of this design in various coordinating color schemes. Since I have two teenage daughters with lots of friends who have lots of birthdays, having a simple birthday card on hand can be a life saver!</span><span style="font-family: "courier new" , "courier" , monospace;"><br /></span></div>

<div style="text-align: left;">
<br />
<br />
The last card I'll share today was inspired by a layout I found by Amy O'Neill. I replaced the bicycle Amy used as the focal point on her card and copic colored this adorable llama instead. This cute patterned paper by Paper Studio creates a fun fiesta card!</div>

Brusho can be used to create a variety of fun effects, from wet on wet washes to wet on dry splatters. The possibilities are endless!</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;"></span><br />
<span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">For my March stampin' club class, I showcased a few ideas for using Brusho on card projects. Our make and take was this storm cloud card featuring a wet on wet background. We wet our watercolor paper with aqua painters, sprinkled on the blue Brusho crystals, and blended with the aqua painter and lots of water. For more intense color, use more crystals, and for a lighter background use fewer. Since we wanted a stormy, dark background for this card, we used a lot of intense color.</span><br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">Since a rainbow comes after every shower, I experimented with creating a wet on dry sunrise background by sprinkling Brusho on dry watercolor paper and spraying with my spritzer. The effect is so cool and really reminds me of scattering sunlight! I used Brusho with water to paint my rainbow die cuts on watercolor paper. </span></div>

<span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">I used the same background effect on this card substituting green crystals. The moss green crystals contain flecks of purple, and this earthy color formed a great base for my Orchid Builder set. I have a gorgeous purple orchid in my house that blooms all year round, so I'm sure that was part of my inspiration too!</span></div>

<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;">Have you seen the Birthday Delivery stamp set, coordinating dies, and coordinating paper yet? This bundle gave me my first real *gasp* as I flipped through the Stampin' Up catalog for the first time. The animals are the superstars of this set, but my first card idea uses the cute little pastry chef and adorable birthday cakes from the DSP. This set features an adorable hodgepodge of characters, including a chef, forest animals, vintage little girl, and a random poodle. All are incredibly adorable!</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;">Because this card features a fun surprise inside, I had to create a belly band to keep it closed. Every sentiment on the project is stamped in black and then in sugar and spice embossing powder so the whole thing smells like cake. I kid you not.</span></div>

<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;">The pop-up mechanism for this card is as basic as it gets. Cut your card interior to size and then fold in half. Trim on the folded side to create one or more "steps" that hold elements you want to pop up. This technique takes 5 minutes but adds such a fun twist to a basic card!</span></div>

<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;">I love bright colors, and I was really inspired by the projects in the annual catalog for these products. I used the examples as a starting point and then added by own twist, of course!</span><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi0LeZ7Oyl4ibOIsTjhJBgNwBwexdb9_WX6mhOPYKscNCQJmxhJoIr6Mp6rdwH8SvDnxlbuwMcfNxtzhHy3kxaqGDCYV_-MMzWxNapmYKr5myzPC0uQttKXvV7xlVpqtY8ptAro-pfq9g9U/s1600/Purple+Birthday.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1277" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi0LeZ7Oyl4ibOIsTjhJBgNwBwexdb9_WX6mhOPYKscNCQJmxhJoIr6Mp6rdwH8SvDnxlbuwMcfNxtzhHy3kxaqGDCYV_-MMzWxNapmYKr5myzPC0uQttKXvV7xlVpqtY8ptAro-pfq9g9U/s400/Purple+Birthday.jpg" width="318" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;">This project was inspired by a gift box using this set in the annual catalog, but I went with a card instead. I used the same overall layout and added a crinkled seam binding bow to the top for a little extra girliness. I think I actually dyed this ribbon using Rich Razzleberry ink, but the color gradations coordinated with Berry Burst just perfectly! I wanted my Smoky Slate sentiment to be nice and thick, so I actually cut three sentiments and layered them with Stampin' Up's new adhesive sheets. This added extra dimension to my sentiment and really made it stand out in real life.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;">The second card was inspired by a tag in the annual catalog. I used the orange foil paper and a tiny bow. These are so cute!!</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">I had to finish off my card trio with a shaker! I have tons of pink sequins in my stash, so a Powder Pink and Berry Burst color combination worked out wonderfully for this project. What a cheerful card this one turned out to be!</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;">Thanks for visiting today, friends!</span></div>

These circles would create an amazing repeating pattern for a card background, in addition to a number of other creative uses. I know I will have a lot of fun with this set. Thanks, sissy!</span><div>
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;">I decided to create some scribbled roses with emboss resist as a fun weekend project. This project is clean and simple and very fast! I think I spent a total of 10-15 minutes on this project outside of drying time.</span> </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjslth2yDtd49JoRjmx3aMeGvXUeG5Q7YNZ9-2C3HIELbYpWKYgfVoQdUeW6guMOaLhx9sv1TWcQdSjg6vfgu3dcAgfc1VJL9VMqpURCR-zxkx6HDspOq0TMdFQQgskbHRmDnbFLM64RDkw/s1600/Swirly+Flowers.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1279" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjslth2yDtd49JoRjmx3aMeGvXUeG5Q7YNZ9-2C3HIELbYpWKYgfVoQdUeW6guMOaLhx9sv1TWcQdSjg6vfgu3dcAgfc1VJL9VMqpURCR-zxkx6HDspOq0TMdFQQgskbHRmDnbFLM64RDkw/s400/Swirly+Flowers.jpg" width="318" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;">I started by heat embossing my circles with gold embossing powder and then used Peacock Feathers, Picked Raspberry, and Spiced Marmalade for my watercolor background. I die cut a sentiment from gold glitter paper and mounted the whole panel on an A2 sized piece of water color paper. </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;">This project was fast and fun, and I can't wait to create another card with this set!</span></div>

I had a flurry of ideas right away when I saw this set since scene cards basically give me a reason to live. I adore them! :)</span><div>

<br /><div>
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;">I don't use tons of patterned paper in my crafting, but I knew I wanted to use a feminine color combo on this card. I stole some scraps from my stash and got to work! These stamps are photopolymer, so lining things up was a breeze. I have found over the years that every project improves when some kind of texture is added - dry embossing, a textile, or another 3-D object - so I included ribbon, felt, and buttons too.</span></div>
</div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;">The second card uses an identical layout with some different scraps from my stash. I added books to the back of my bike and an apple button for some texture.</span></div>

Since this summer has been kind of a whirlwind already, I thought I might do sort of a mega-project post showcasing some of my favorite new products from the 2017-2018 Annual Catalog. I've made a number of projects already using these new goodies!</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;">My super duper favorite of my new products HAS to be the 2017-2019 In Colors. These beautiful brights look great together! </span><br />

<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;">This Lovely Friends bundle is probably one I would have overlooked if it hadn't been part of the demonstrator pre-order. In the catalog it just doesn't look that impressive, but in real life, YOWZA! The pop up element is quick and simple to create and makes a huge impact! See what I mean when I say these colors look great together? I have all five in this photo, and they make a gorgeous statement without much design know-how. That's my kind of coordination!</span></div>
